Smart Plugins

Eight specialized analyzers, running in parallel on every audit.

Beyond the UX guideline scoring, every Agent audit ships Smart Plugins — 8 specialist analyzers running in parallel for accessibility, performance, security, content readability, tech stack, and visual consistency. The kind of coverage you'd normally pay for from 4 different vendors.

How Smart Plugins fit into an audit

When you run an Agent audit, all 8 plugins fire simultaneously — adding ~1-2 minutes to total audit time but covering surface areas the core UX scoring doesn't.

1

Plugins run in parallel with the Agent

While the AI Audit Agent navigates and screenshots, the Smart Plugins suite hits independent APIs and runs in-browser checks simultaneously. Total wall-clock time stays at 5 minutes for the audit, not 5 × 8 minutes.

2

Each plugin owns one analysis dimension

Performance (CrUX + PageSpeed), security (Mozilla Observatory + Safe Browsing), accessibility (axe-core), markup quality (W3C Validator), tech stack (Wappalyzer), content readability, CSS quality. No overlap, no redundant work.

3

Findings layered into your audit report

Each plugin's output is folded into the main report — performance widget, accessibility section, security panel. Severity rules apply: a critical a11y violation surfaces alongside critical UX findings, prioritized by impact.

4

Plugin data also lives standalone

Want only the performance report? Filter the audit to the relevant plugin sections. Pro+ exports plugin-only reports for handing to specialist teams (a11y team gets a11y, perf team gets perf).

The 8 Smart Plugins in detail

Axe Core — Accessibility

The industry-standard a11y rule engine, injected into your live site and run on the captured DOM. Catches WCAG 2.1/2.2 violations — contrast, ARIA, focus order, alt text, semantic markup. ~90+ rules.

CrUX — Real-User Performance

Google's Chrome User Experience Report — field data from actual Chrome users on your site. Surfaces real-world Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) over the last 28 days, not synthetic benchmarks.

PageSpeed Insights — Synthetic Performance

Google PageSpeed Insights API on every audit — Lighthouse-equivalent synthetic scores for mobile and desktop. Layered alongside CrUX for the lab-vs-field comparison every perf engineer wants.

Mozilla Observatory — Security Headers

Scores your security header configuration: CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options, Permissions-Policy, referrer policy. Catches the headers production sites silently forget. Grade + improvement recommendations.

Google Safe Browsing — Threat Detection

Checks your URL against Google's live phishing, malware, and unwanted-software threat database. Surfaces if any part of your site (including third-party embeds) has been flagged.

W3C HTML Validator — Markup Quality

Validates your HTML against the W3C standard. Catches broken markup, deprecated elements, ambiguous nesting — the kind of issues that quietly degrade SEO and accessibility together.

Wappalyzer — Tech Stack Detection

Detects the technologies running on your site — frameworks (React, Vue, Astro), analytics (GA, Mixpanel), CDNs, CMS platforms, payment processors. Useful for security review and competitive intel.

Readability — Content Quality

Scores written content for readability (Flesch, Coleman-Liau, automated readability index). Catches copy that's pitched too high for the audience — a quiet conversion killer on B2C surfaces.

Common questions

Can I run a Smart Plugin standalone without the full Agent audit?

Not in the UI today — plugins fire as part of every Agent run. If you only want the performance plugin's output, run an audit and filter the report. API access on Pro+ exposes per-plugin endpoints if you need plugin-only data for CI.

How is this different from running Lighthouse / axe-core myself?

You can run those tools standalone — they're open-source. The Smart Plugins suite layers them together, runs them in parallel on the same audit, and merges findings into one report with consistent severity scoring. The integration is the product, not the individual analyzers.

What about Lighthouse — isn't that included?

Lighthouse-equivalent scoring is included via PageSpeed Insights (Google's hosted Lighthouse). Same scoring engine, no local install required. Our PageSpeed plugin reports both mobile and desktop Lighthouse-equivalent scores on every audit.

Can I customize the plugin rule sets?

Default rule sets are fixed (axe-core's WCAG ruleset, Mozilla Observatory's defaults, etc.). Enterprise customers can request custom configuration — for example, a stricter security-header policy that exceeds the Observatory default. Talk to us.

Do plugins slow down my audit?

Plugins run in parallel with the Agent's UX scoring — they add maybe 30-90 seconds to total audit time, not 5×8. The architecture is fire-and-forget per plugin: slow ones don't block fast ones, failures don't cascade.
